In a move geared towards the achievement of a cleaner environment, Delta State is set to overhaul its Public Sector  Participants  (PSP) policy in waste management.

The State Commissioner for Environment, Mr Chris Onogba made the disclosure yesterday, while reacting to questions from members of Indigenous Correspondent’s Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), at Asaba.

Onogba noted that there has been complaints from residents about PSP not being able to evacuate waste as and when due despite the willingness to pay their services.

The Commissioner, who berated the unsatisfactory activities of some of the PSP said a committee has been set up to ensure the improvement of waste disposal in the State.

He however advised residents to pay their waste bills regularly so as to encourage the activities of PSP in the State.

“ A number of PSP don’t have the capacity to evacuate waste. A committee was set up I am the chairman of that committee and we have come up with our recommendations.
“ There are basic requirements you must meet for you to operate as PSP.

“ a lot of PSP are going to be dropped and they will need to revalidate. For the process of revalidation, there are certain conditions you must meet.” He said.
