Nkemnaya Widows Foundation Fetes Widows In Okpanam

Over 100 widows in Okpanam community, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have been empowered with bags of rice , beans , tomatoes and other food items to share by Nkemnaya Widows Foundation with the support of Umu Anioma in Chicago, USA 

Speaking during the brief ceremony, the Coordinator in charge of women development for Senator Ned Nwoko in the 9 local government areas of Delta North, Amb. Anthonia Chukwuedo said that as a widow , whose husband died since 22 years ago, she decided to take it as a priority to take care of widows .

Chukwuedo, who is the founder of the Foundation, enjoined widows not to think that all hopes are lost because of the fact that their husbands were no longer alive but to look on to God for their survival.

She appreciated Umu Anioma in Chicago, USA and other well-meaning individuals for their support through which the widows had benefited from the Foundation.

Chukwuedo explained that Umu Anioma in Diaspora, particularly Chicago, USA are in support of Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Ned Nwoko in his unwavering determination and efforts for the creation of Anioma State.

Also speaking, one of the women leaders in the Senator Ned Nwoko women support group, Ezinne (Barr.) Ann Nwoko told the widows that the death of their life partners does not mean that all hopes were lost for them .

She used the opportunity to thank the good people of Delta North, most especially women for sustaining their support for Senator Ned Nwoko, stressing that the role of women in politics was strategic for nation building.

In an interview with newsmen, some widows including Mrs. Blessing Ozor and Mrs. Josephine Onuachi , both beneficiaries of the initiative lauded Umu Anioma people in Chicago and the Foundation for finding them worthy to benefit from the empowerment.

The duo described Amb. Anthonia Chukwuedo as a kindhearted, humble and unassuming woman leader, saying that she had always put the welfare of widows and women in the front burners.
