Delta Govt. Partners Private Sector to Boost Tourism
Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Engr. Lawrence Ejiofor
Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Engr. Lawrence Ejiofor has disclosed that Government is engaging private sector partnership to strengthen tourism in the State.
Engr. Ejiofor who made the disclosure at Asaba, described Private Investors as “ drivers” of Culture and Tourism.
The commissioner observed that private partnership ensures optimal utilization of facilities while generating revenue for the Government.
According to him, some of the ongoing tourism projects includes leisure Park, film village and others.
“There is no way Government can thrive on tourism without involving the private practitioners. Government can put the facilities on ground but there must be private persons to run it.
“ It is not a good thing for Government to build a facility only for the place is to be underutilized. We took that into consideration.
“If you know about Dubai that was a desert and everybody wants to go there now. We want to put things on ground that will make people want to come around.
“So the same thing we want to replicate in Delta State. Also putting into consideration the market because it is human beings that makes tourism to thrive. He said.
