CSACEFA Delta Celebrates 2025 International Day of the Girl Child
… Encourages girls to build self-esteem
The atmosphere was one of celebration and inspiration at Umegbali Primary School, Okpanam, in Oshimili North Local Government Area, as the Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA) commemorated the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child on Friday, October 17.
Addressing pupils in Basic 4, 5, and 6, Mrs. Nzemeka, the State Coordinator of CSACEFA and Executive Director of Julie Austin Foundation, delivered a motivating message on self esteem and awareness.
She explained that self-awareness means understanding one’s emotions, strengths, and personal needs, saying that it is a key tool in navigating life’s challenges.
Mrs. Nzemeka stated that When girls are self-aware, they make better choices and develop the confidence to believe in themselves.
She further emphasized the importance of developing self-esteem, encouraging the girls to speak up for what is right and reject what is wrong, building their inner strength as they grow.
Echoing her message, Mrs. Josephine Omodior, Executive Director of Eye on the Future Initiative (EFI), alongside a representative from Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE),Mrs Omodoro Evelyn reminded the girls that they are capable of achieving great things when they trust themselves and recognize their own value.

Other CSACEFA member organization representatives present at the event included Prince Dennis Ehikwe from the Monu Olarewaju Foundation and Miss Onome Edward from Initiative for Peace and Development.
In her vote of thanks, Mrs. Edith Uwomi, the Head Teacher of Umegbali Primary School, expressed sincere gratitude to CSACEFA for selecting their school to host this year’s event.
She highlighted the long-term impact of investing in girls , saying that not only through education but by nurturing their confidence, courage, and self-worth. Cash gift was also presented to a pupil who responded correctly to questions from the State Coordinator of CSACEFA.

The highpoint of the event was the distribution of stationery to the pupils, generously donated by the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), bringing smiles to the faces of the children. The NCWS donations benefitted a total of 100 pupils.
The global observance of the Day falls on October 11 and this year’s theme is :“The girl I am, the change I lead: Girls on the Frontline of crisis.”
