The Obi Martha Dunkwu Foundation (OMDF), a non-governmental organization dedicated to leadership development, growth consciousness, and the empowerment of the girl-child in Anioma Nation, has congratulated Major General Raymond Nkem Ochei (rtd) on his official Passing Out Parade (POP) from the Nigerian Army.

Maj. Gen. Ochei’s POP ceremony was held on Friday, February 6, 2026, in Lagos, marking the conclusion of a distinguished and meritorious military career.

In a statement jointly signed by the Acting Chairman and Secretary of the Foundation, Dr. Afamefuna Dunkwu-Okafor and Comrade Patrick Ochei respectively, OMDF eulogized the retired senior officer for his exemplary service to the nation and his invaluable contributions to community and people-centred development in Anioma Nation.

The statement described Maj. Gen. Ochei as a gallant and patriotic officer who served Nigeria with honour, integrity, and unwavering commitment, adding that his career brought pride and prestige not only to the Nigerian Army but also to Anioma Nation at large.

“We are proud of the illustrious son we have in Major General Raymond Nkem Ochei, who has today pulled out of the services of the Nigerian Army after serving meritoriously and patriotically,” the statement read. “He remained stainless, disciplined, and dedicated throughout his years in military service.”

According to the Foundation, Anioma Nation and beyond will long remember Maj. Gen. Ochei for his impeccable service and deep sense of responsibility to his people.

“He was an officer who found honour and fulfilment in assisting his people in all ramifications of life, demonstrating uncommon commitment to community development and human capacity building,” the statement noted.

The Foundation further recalled that it was established by Her Royal Majesty, Obi Martha Dunkwu (Omu Anioma) of blessed memory, whom Maj. Gen. Ochei honoured and supported exceptionally during her lifetime.

“This Foundation will continue to recognize and celebrate him and his works as time goes by. We are indeed proud of him,” the statement added.

OMDF also wished the retired general success in his post-military life, while praying for divine wisdom, strength, and resources to enable him pursue his future aspirations.

“We congratulate you, our most distinguished and respected gallant officer, whose contributions to the Nigerian Army will not be forgotten in a hurry,” the statement concluded.

Major General Raymond Nkem Ochei (rtd), an indigene of Onicha-Olona in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, was, until his retirement, the only serving military officer in West Africa at the rank of Major General to possess two doctoral degrees (Ph.Ds).
