Akpojaro Promises To Sustain Culture Of Running Among Children

The CEO of Princeton Akpojaro 10KM Road Race Competition, Mr. Princeton Akpojaro, has said that the idea behind the gesture is encourage the culture of running among the children.

Akpojaro stated this in Asaba during the 6th edition of Asaba road race while speaking with journalists.

Recalled that the 7th edition of Ughelli 10KM road race was held recently.

Speaking further, Akpojaro said that he continued to singlehandedly sponsor the competition, adding that the gesture was for the overall benefits of the children.

Akpojaro stated all efforts to draw the state government attention to key into the initiative had not yielded positive results, stressing that there was urgent need for the state government to embrace the 10KM road race .

He urged participants to redouble their commitment in sports development, assuring them that he would continue to provide them the platform to realize their potential.

Earlier, the Principal of Okp secondary school, Okp in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. S. Ogbodo commended Princeton Akpojaro for Inspiring the students and giving them hope through the competition and for sustaining it .

While recalling how Princeton Akpojaro initiated the competition in Ughelli and Asaba 8 years ago , Ogbodo called on relevant government agencies, corporate organizations and spirited individuals to partner with the organizer of the competition in order to cover all parts of the state.

Also speaking, the Coordinator of Princeton Akpojaro Asaba 10KM road race , Mr. David Umukoro explained that the competition was aimed at empowering interested participants, just as he revealed that the competition comprises adult male and female, secondary school senior boys and girls , secondary school junior boys and girls and civil servants categories respectively.

In an interview with some of the winners in different categories including Promise Umolu who emerged winner in adults male category both in Ughelli and Asaba and Jesinta Elias said that they were happy to have participated in the competition and appreciated Princeton Akpojaro for making their dream come through.

At the end of the competition cheques were presented to winners , first runners up and third positions and their various schools.
