The Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ighoyota Amori, on Friday, joined top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the official inauguration of the APC National Election Management Council and campaign flag-off for the Anambra State gubernatorial election, held at the All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha.

The event marked a major show of strength for the ruling party ahead of the November 8 election, with several political heavyweights in attendance, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio; who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC National Chairman; Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

Senator Amori, who arrived early at the venue, described the campaign as a clear sign of APC’s growing strength across the South-East. Speaking with newsmen, he congratulated party members in Anambra for what he termed “an impending victory that will usher in a new era of progress and prosperity for the people of Anambra State.”

According to him, “Delta State, a next-door neighbour to Anambra, is firmly APC, and so is Enugu state, that is also a close neighbour to Anambra. Leadership is not built in isolation but within a community and family. On November 8, Anambra will be an APC state.”

In his remarks, Senate President Akpabio, representing President Tinubu, assured party faithful that Anambra would no longer stand alone politically.

“My message in Anambra today is to let you know that you shall not walk alone,” Akpabio said. “An adopted son is not the same as a biological son. Ndigbo henceforth shall never walk alone; they will be at the centre.”

He described APC under President Tinubu as a “mother hen spreading its wings to cover all its children in Nigeria,” adding that the South East Development Commission would further empower and rebuild the region.

Also speaking, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda handed the party flag and symbol of unity; the broom, to the gubernatorial candidate; Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his running mate, Sen. Uche Ekwunife.

He described the APC as a “messenger of hope” and expressed confidence in the party’s victory. “In eight days, there will be no governor in Nigeria that will bear the name APGA,” Yilwatda declared. “Anambra is too important in Igbo land to leave in the hands of opposition. We are taking it back.”

Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, commended party members for their discipline despite the heavy rain that nearly disrupted the rally.

“APC is not known for violence,” Uzodimma stated. “As you go about your campaigns, shun violence and allow INEC to conduct a free and fair election. Your votes will count, and security will be provided for all.”

Earlier, party stakeholders, led by the National Chairman and campaign team, paid homage to the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, who offered royal blessings to the candidates before the rally commenced.

Senator Amori’s presence at the high-profile event reaffirmed his strong political network and his unwavering commitment to the party’s expansion drive beyond Delta State, as he continues to project unity and progress within the APC family.
