Delta APC SWC Approves Removal of Ethiope West , Ughelli North LGA Chairmen
The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has ratified the removal of key local government executives in Ethiope West and Ughelli North Local Government Areas, following the adoption of reports presented by the State Vice Chairman and Chairman of Delta Central Senatorial District, Chief Paulinus Akpeki.
According to the Party’s State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq. , the decision was reached at a duly convened meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) held on Monday, October 28, 2025, at the party’s State Secretariat in Asaba.
The meeting, which was presided over by the State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, deliberated extensively on reports detailing developments within the party structures in the affected local government areas.
In its resolutions, the SWC approved the report of the Ethiope West Local Government Executive Committee, which had earlier passed a vote of no confidence on Mr. Efe Amughoro (Chairman) and Mr. Andrew Enyure (Vice Chairman) over allegations of gross misconduct, dereliction of duty, insubordination, forgery, and misappropriation of party funds.
After reviewing the procedures adopted in the removal process and finding them consistent with Articles 17(v), 17(vi), and 21(vi) of the APC Constitution, the SWC upheld the decision and confirmed their removal with immediate effect.
Consequently, Mr. Aboy Erukayenure has been recognized as Acting Chairman, while Mr. Arthur (Author) Okeh assumes office as Acting Vice Chairman pending formal ratification by higher party organs.
Similarly, the State Working Committee approved the removal of Mr. Onabedje Obakpororo (Chairman), Mrs. Beauty Ubogun-Nze (Secretary), and Mr. Henry Ophori (Organizing Secretary) of the Ughelli North Local Government Area.
Their removal followed a vote of no confidence passed during the LGA Executive Committee meeting held on October 4, 2025, over allegations of persistent refusal to convene meetings, anti-party activities, and insubordination.
The SWC affirmed that the disciplinary actions complied with the constitutional provisions and internal processes of the party. Accordingly, Mr. Samuel Evwighono Onofeghare was appointed Acting Chairman, Ms. Juliet Oduma as Acting Secretary, and Pastor Daniel Osiebe as Acting Organizing Secretary.
The SWC also nullified the purported suspension of several party leaders in Ethiope West, including Chief Ighoyota Amori, Hon. Christian Onogba, Hon. Philomena Ededdy, and others. The committee ruled that the suspensions failed to comply with Article 21 of the APC Constitution and were therefore “unconstitutional, null, and void.”
In reaffirming its commitment to fairness and internal democracy, the Delta APC SWC cautioned against acts of factionalism and indiscipline, warning that the full weight of the party’s constitution would be applied against any member found engaging in conduct capable of undermining unity within the state chapter.
The committee further directed that the reports of the leadership changes be transmitted to the party’s national leadership for ratification and further necessary action.
The meeting concluded with a renewed call for peace, discipline, and cooperation among members as the party strengthens its structures ahead of future elections.
