The Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Chief Ighoyota Amori, has formally received the 2025 UPU Presidential General Worldwide Award, a recognition bestowed on him by the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide for his outstanding contributions to the sustainable development and advancement of the Urhobo ethnic nationality and humanity.

In a statement issued in Asaba by his Public Relations Officer, Mr. Joelson Wilson, Senator Amori described the honour as “deeply humbling” and “a call to greater service to the Urhobo Nation.”

According to the statement, the award, announced ahead of the 94th Urhobo Day Celebration and Annual Congress scheduled for December 5–7, 2025, reflects the Senator’s decades of work in promoting leadership development, community empowerment and nation-building across Urhoboland and beyond.

“This recognition is not just about me,” Amori declared. “It is about every patriotic Urhobo man and woman contributing in their own way to the progress of our people. I have only done what every Urhobo son should do; place the furtherance of the Urhobo Nation above personal interest.”

The Chief Adviser used the occasion to congratulate the re-elected President General of UPU Worldwide, Olorogun Barr. Ese Gam Owe, and members of the executive council, calling their re-election “an opportunity to consolidate unity and deliver on the expectations of the Urhobo people.”

“I congratulate the President General and the entire executive on their re-election,” Amori said. “This mandate should be used to bring all aspirants and stakeholders together. Every idea raised during the campaigns is valuable and should be harnessed for the collective development of the Urhobo Nation.”

He emphasized that the prosperity of any group is rooted in the development of its people, urging the UPU to elevate empowerment initiatives in its new term.

“The progress of a people lies in the growth and empowerment of its sons and daughters,” Amori noted. “This should be given renewed priority, especially in this second term.”

Senator Amori dedicated the award to all patriotic Urhobos, stressing the importance of cohesion and togetherness across communities at home and abroad.

“I dedicate this award to every Urhobo who continues to carry our identity with pride,” he stated. “We must remain united, wherever we are in the world, so that the UPU can achieve its mandate of moving Urhobo forward.”

The statement reaffirmed the Chief Adviser’s continued commitment to supporting the UPU Worldwide and contributing to initiatives that promote unity, capacity development and sustainable growth across the Urhobo Nation.
