ADC Lands in Delta, Presents Fresh Political Direction
.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally established its presence in Delta State with the inauguration of a new Leadership Management Team, signaling what party leaders described as a fresh political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration also featured the official opening of the party’s new State secretariat in Asaba.
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and National Vice Chairman (North-East), Babachir David Lawal, who represented the National Chairman, Senator David Mark, outlined some of the terms of reference for the new leadership:”
Setting up a committee for the admission of new members;
Establishing ADC offices across the state, including local government areas and polling units;
Strengthening the party’s structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
Lawal explained that the assignments were central to repositioning the ADC as a disciplined, transparent, and inclusive political force.
He also restated the party’s zero tolerance for bribery, ticket-buying, and primary election manipulation.
According to him:“In APC, someone may win a primary, but another person pays money in Abuja and the name changes. It will not happen in ADC… Do the right thing, and the right thing will be done.”
On his part, the National Vice Chairman (South-South), Usani Usani, urged members to embrace courage, saying the growth of the party depends on boldness, not political fear.
He dismissed claims of internal crisis as exaggerated attempts to undermine the party’s rising momentum.
Also speaking, the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the ADC as Nigeria’s most credible remaining opposition platform.
He said the party’s mission is a national rescue effort designed to return power to ordinary citizens.
Responding on behalf of the new leadership team, former governorship candidate, Olorogun Great Ogboru, said the inauguration and the opening of the new secretariat mark the return of genuine opposition politics to Delta State.
He urged Deltans to embrace the ADC as a credible alternative capable of restoring political balance in the state.
“They never imagined that a small party like ADC would rise and say NO to dictatorship,” he said.
Members of the newly inaugurated interim team include:
Olorogun Great Ovedje Ogboru, Dcn Kennedy Pela, Hon. Uloho Obaro, Engr. Austin Okolie, Hon. George Timinimi, and Hon. Emeka Ozegbe.
