The 7th Assembly of Oshimili North Legislative Arm, has impeached the leader , Hon. Chris Nwamgbor and the deputy leader, Hon. Augustina Odogwu and a new leader emerged. He is Hon. Jeffery Sunday Mordi, the Councillor representing Okpanam DISIEC ward 12 , who until his election as the leader was the immediate past Chief Whip.

The impeachment of the former leader, Hon. Chris Nwamgbor and the deputy leader, Hon. Augustina Odogwu followed a motion moved by Hon. Jeffery Mordi having secured 2/3 majority of the Councillors by invoking section 92, subsection 2C of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to the sponsor of the motion the House resolution for the removal of the leader and the deputy leader outlined the collective concerns regarding gross misconduct and lack of transparency, leading to a duly processed vote of impeachment passed by 2/3 majority.

The resolution noted that 2/3 majority of the councillors numbering 16, who voted for their removal and countersigned the impeachment identified lack transparency by the enstranged leader and his deputy , particularly for their consistent pattern of withholding critical information from Assembly members, thereby denying members the ability to fulfill their responsibilities to their constituents.

Hon. Mordi , while reading the motion said that the Hon. Chris Nwamgbor and Hon. Augustina Odogwu had failed to uphold ethical standards with multiple allegations of misconducts, embezzlement of funds , nepotism and conflict of interest.

The motion stated that the actions of now former leader and former deputy leader were not representation of the standards expected from them .

It frowned at the disrespectful conduct of Chris Nwamgbor and Hon. Augustina Odogwu , saying that the duo had demonstrated a pattern of creating a toxic environment that was detrimental to the collaboration and discourse.

The motion also said that the negative impact of the embattled leader and deputy leader on public trust was part of the reasons for their removal, emphasizing that their continued leadership had resulted in a significant decline in public trust and confidence in the Assembly.
