The Commissioner for Primary Education in Delta State, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, has lauded Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for approving cash awards for outstanding teachers across the state, describing the initiative as a strong demonstration of the administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector.

Dr. Ashibogwu made the commendation on Thursday, December 18, 2025, during the presentation of awards to deserving teachers at the Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat, Asaba. He noted that the governor’s gesture aligns with his MORE Agenda, which prioritises human capital development and the delivery of quality education.

According to the commissioner, recognising teachers for excellence, dedication and professionalism would not only boost their morale but also inspire renewed commitment to the teaching profession.

He praised Governor Oborevwori for prioritising teachers’ welfare and motivation, adding that such encouragement would ultimately lead to improved learning outcomes for pupils in public primary and secondary schools across the state.

Congratulating the award recipients, Dr. Ashibogwu described the honours as well deserved, while urging them to view the recognition as a call to higher service rather than a point of complacency.

“You have been recognised because of your outstanding performance and commitment to duty. This award should spur you to do even more in shaping the minds and future of our children,” he said.

He further urged all teachers in the state to remain dedicated to their responsibilities, uphold professional ethics and continue to support the state government’s efforts to reposition the education sector. The commissioner reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to provide an enabling environment for teachers to excel and for primary education in Delta State to reach greater heights.
