Community Leader Underscores Importance Of Mothers’ Role In Family, Society

A prominent community leader in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Chibogwu Ikenwe , has said that women play essential role of bringing stability in every family, children and the society in general and should be celebrated at all times whether alive or dead.
Ikenwe stated this in Okpanam during the final burial ceremony of his late mother, Mrs. Maria Nwa-Ada Ikenwe nee Okocha.
He described the role of their mother in their life as great and worthy of emulation, stressing that everything about her and her activities reflected the life of an ideal woman of substance.
Ikenwe, who said that their mother was a peace loving woman, kindhearted, accessible and unassuming in all ramifications, noted that her death created vacuum in the family.
He said that mothers were blessing to their children as they always, especially the ones among them strive to ensure the success of their children, adding that she was his role model and pillar of the family.
He stated that their mother instilled in them discipline, perseverance, determination and hard work, adding that she as a God fearing woman, she gave the children the foundation to aspire for greatness.
Also speaking, one of the son-in-laws, Mr. Ebolum Nwanze from Ogbeozoma Quarters explained that the deceased was extended her milk of kindness to anyone that came across her, noting that she was a courageous, industrious and dependable woman.
Nwanze said that his mother in-law was a notable business woman, who was doing well in her fish selling business, emphasizing that he would miss her motherly advice.
The granddaughter of the deceased, Miss Kamsy Ochuku Ikenwe recalled that she grew up to be hearing about the good attributes of her grandmother, saying that it was heartwarming to observe the good things people speak about the woman many years after death.
Others respondents enjoined the children of the deceased to sustain the towering legacy of their mother, reminding them that their mother touched several lives .
