Trump Condemns Alleged Christian Killings in Nigeria, Signals Possible Halt to U.S. Aid

U.S. President Donald Trump has voiced strong displeasure over what he described as widespread killings of Christians in Nigeria.

Speaking on a conservative radio program on Friday—an interview referenced by Fox News—Trump claimed that thousands of Christians have been killed in the West African nation. He criticized the Nigerian government for what he believes is a failure to protect Christian communities from attacks carried out by Islamist militants.

The President previously designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” in response to reports of religious violence.

He has also warned that the United States could take military action if Nigerian authorities do not intensify their efforts to curb the attacks, calling the situation “a disgrace.”

Referring to Nigeria’s reliance on U.S. support, Trump hinted at additional steps his administration might take. He suggested that Washington could suspend aid to Nigeria if the government does not act more decisively.

“They’re killing people by the thousands. It’s a genocide, and I’m really angry about it,” Trump said. “We give a lot of subsidies to Nigeria. We’re going to end up stopping.”

His remarks came amid ongoing security concerns in the country, including a recent school kidnapping in Niger State, where the number of abducted victims has risen to 315.
