The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has smashed a Lagos-based drug syndicate that disguised potent strains of cannabis as imported Christmas cookies and snacks, arresting two masterminds during a coordinated raid in the Lekki area of the state.

According to a statement signed by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, the syndicate run by Deji Adesanya and Olubiyi Majekodunmi, imported consignments of Canadian Loud and packaged them in colourful, designer sachets bearing labels of cookies and confectioneries.

The duo allegedly operated their distribution network via a dedicated WhatsApp platform targeting buyers across Lagos.

Acting on actionable intelligence, NDLEA operatives stormed the gang’s apartment on Ojulari Street, Ikate, Lekki, on Saturday, 22 November 2025.

Officers recovered 5kg of Loud and large quantities of the deceptive packaging materials at the point of arrest.

The agency said the arrest forms part of an intensified, intelligence-led crackdown on emerging drug distribution methods, particularly those exploiting social media channels and festive-season packaging to evade detection.
