West End Mixed S/S Wins Rotary Club Of Asaba Science Quiz Competition

West End Mixed Secondary School, Asaba has emerged the overall winner of the Rotary Club of Asaba Science Quiz Competition for Secondary Schools in Oshimili South and Oshimili North.

 

As the overall winner , West End Mixed Secondary School had been rewarded with an I-pad and the sum of #200,000 while the first runner -up, Women Affairs Secondary School received the sum of #120,000 and the second runner -up, Isioma Onyeobi Secondary School all in Asaba got the sum of #80,000. 

 

West End Mixed Secondary secured a total of 72 percent after the CBT test , beating Women Affairs Secondary School and Isioma Onyeobi Secondary School which scored 68 percent and 62 percent respectively at the preliminary stage to book a place in the final .

 

In a bid to encourage all participating schools, the Rotary Club of Asaba also rewarded the 4th position from Oshimili North and other schools from Oshimili North axis with a free training programme at the Schoolville Innovation Hub, Asaba.

 

Speaking after the competition, the Principal of West End Mixed Secondary School, Mrs. Augusta Ogeah commended the organizers of the science quiz competition, the Rotary Club of Asaba for its initiative for encouraging academic excellence.

 

Ogeah said that the Rotary Club had been known for its humanitarian activities, adding that the gesture was a demonstration of its selfless service to humanity and support to education.

 

While describing the science quiz competition as a welcome development, Ogeah explained that the competition had contributed in reinforcing the spirit of healthy academic competition among the participants.

 

She said that the importance of embracing science subjects cannot be overemphasized, noting that science and technological innovations play critical role in the development of any society.

 

The Principal, however, appreciated the representative of her school in the competition, Victory Chichi for putting up an outstanding performance in the competition, saying that the student was a good ambassador of the school.

 

She thanked the teachers of West End Mixed Secondary School, Asaba for their unwavering commitment to their statutory responsibility, especially the science teacher, Mr Kingsley for his dedication to duty and preparing the children for every competition.
