ETHIOPE, DELTA STATE – Reliable indications suggest that prominent community leader, philanthropist, and Quadrant Chief Dr. Mercy Egurase Sule is actively preparing to contest the Ethiope Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.
Dr. Sule is already a familiar figure in Delta State politics. She contested the same House of Representatives seat in 2019 on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
During that cycle, she reportedly stepped aside in the interest of party harmony, paving the way for Hon. Ben Igbakpa’s re-election bid
Recall that Hon. Igbakpa ultimately lost the seat in 2023 to Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Delta State Governor James Ibori.
Although the recent Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses have just concluded, political temperatures are already rising.
Dr. Sule has not yet made any formal public declaration, her intensified grassroots engagements, strategic community outreach, and growing visibility point strongly toward a serious bid.

Sources close to her camp suggest she may no longer seek the PDP ticket as there are credible signs that she already made a shift to the All Progressives Congress (APC), during the mass defection
While this report remains unconfirmed, there is panic over her undisclosed move in the federal constituency, and the political party for which she will contest
Recapitulate that beyond politics, Dr. Sule commands respect through her extensive humanitarian footprint.
She is the founder of the Bemys Foundation, a well-regarded NGO that has consistently delivered essential food support, medical supplies, educational materials, and empowerment programs—to vulnerable populations across Delta State for several years.
As a Diaspora Ambassador, she also played a visible and influential role in supporting Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s successful 2023 gubernatorial campaign, further cementing her standing within the state’s political and social architecture.
As the 2027 election cycle gathers momentum, all eyes are on “Quadrant Chief” to see when she will formally launch what is expected to be a formidable and well-resourced campaign in Ethiope Federal Constituency.
