The concerned Public Servants for Good Governance Forum (CPSGGF)  has appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to reinstate the suspended Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Izeze Rume Reuben.

The group  made the appeal during a press briefing held in Asaba, today, where it called for clemency for the commissioner while acknowledging the governor’s commitment to discipline and due process.

Izeze was suspended to allow for an investigation into an alleged incident involving an aide to the Governor on Protocol at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI).

The CPSGGF, however, urged Governor Oborevwori to consider reinstating the commissioner, arguing that his continued suspension could affect the effective administration of the Works Ministry at a time when the state government is executing road projects across the state.

The Convener of the forum, Comrade Promise Obi, described Izeze as a “tested comrade,” former two-term legislator representing Ughelli South, and grassroots mobiliser whose contributions to the administration’s infrastructure programme had been significant.

According to the group, Izeze has also demonstrated commitment to humanitarian and human-capital development initiatives, including support for indigent students and other empowerment programmes.

The forum further claimed that the suspended commissioner had shown remorse and was willing to submit himself to the ongoing process.

Expressing support for the governor’s decision to uphold discipline and due process, the group said it believed in corrective measures as well as second chances rather than punitive action.

“We therefore, with utmost humility, appeal to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, a man known for his large heart and forgiving spirit, to graciously consider the reinstatement of Comrade Izeze Rume Reuben in the interest of continuity, good governance and the MORE Agenda,” the group said.

The group also  commended  the governor’s decision to transmit an Executive Bill to the Delta State House of Assembly seeking to make payment of 13th-month salary on a gross-pay basis a permanent statutory benefit for workers.

The forum described the proposed legislation as a worker-friendly initiative, saying it would provide legal backing for the payment beyond the tenure of the current administration.

It urged the State House of Assembly to expedite consideration of the bill while ensuring universal coverage for workers and a sustainable funding mechanism.

Appreciating Governor Oborevwori for what it described as worker-friendly policies , the group appealed to him to extend the same spirit of consideration to the suspended commissioner.

The Concerned Public Servants for Good Governance Forum is a  Pressure group comprising Federal and State public servants of Delta State origin , driven solely by its concern for the welfare and general well-being of public servants in Delta State.
