Delta State House of Assembly Passes 2019 budget of N390.3 billion
Delta State House of Assembly today passed the 2019 Appropriation bill with an increase of N23, 283, 587, 728.
The budget was passed during plenary at Asaba, presided over by the speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
The passage of the bill followed a report by the Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Erhiake Ibori-Suenu who said that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had on October 17, 2018, presented the 2019 budget proposal of N367 billion to the house, with N209 billion for capital expenditure and N157 billion for recurrent expendure.
Hon. Ibori- Suenu noted that the finance and Appropriation Committee increased the budget size to N390.3 billion after evaluation of the submission of the various sub Committee of the House as well as budget defence of ministries, department and Agencies of the State.
She said N233.2 billion will be spent on capital expenditure while recurrent expenditure has N157.1 billion.
The majority leader, Hon. Tim Owhefere however moved a motion acceptance, adoption and suspension of the House rules to enable the passage of the bill and was seconded by Deputy Speaker, Friday Osanebi.
While thanking members for their effort and commitments, the speaker said that Delta State was among the first States to pass the 2019 Appropriation budget.
