Police exposes gun factory in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has uncovered a gun manufacturing site in Patani forest.

While parading over 80 suspects for various crimes yesterday( 11/2/2020), at Asaba, the State Commissioner of Police, CP. Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa said that factory was discovered following the confession of two robbery and kidnap suspects arrested by Operatives of the Command’s Eagle-Net Squad.

CP Inuwa explained that the arrest of 22 year old Omoefe Fortune and Emmanuel Eferobo, 26 years, led to the arrest of the gun manufacturer, Ezekiel Idoghor,alongside his son, Prosper Idogho, who took them to the unlawful production site.

According to him, all instruments discovered used in the illegal manufacturing of arms have been recovered from the forest.

He added that concerted efforts of the investigative team also led to the recovery of five single barrel guns, one locally made pistol produced by the suspects with two cartridges hidden in the bushes of Ibesa community, Patani Local Government Area.

Also, two fake naval officers , Clinton and Ejiro attached to Japhet Aluma fashion designers, in Warri brought two fake Naval officers Owen Luwiz a 22 year old and Yusuf Rasheed 26 years who dressed on camouflage uniforms and beat up the owner of the fashion designer shop.

He said, “The people brought brought two Naval officers dressed on camouflage uniforms and beat up the owner of the fashion designer shop Japhet Aluma and Fejiro and they were later rescued by some soldiers which led the arrest of the two suspects and later handed over to us.
“Also a member of the kidnap gang, Longlife Ernest responsible for the kidnapping of 18 expatriates in Escravos along Burutu/Bayelsa waterways in early December 2019, was trailed and arrested by Anti-kidnapping operatives.

“We have other suspects ranging from different crime; armed robbery, kidnapping, cultist, raping, stealing, illegal possession firearm, fraud, impersonation/ extortion among others.

“We arrested 41 armed robbers, 8 kidnapers, 16 cultists, and others who have confessed to the crime”

Inuwa who frowned on the manner a school proprietor took a corps member posted to his school to his house in Sapele and had carnal knowledge of her without her consent, said the suspect has been arrested and will be charged to court.

Items recovered from various suspects were 35 firearms, 266 live/expended cartridges, 2 stolen vehicles, 16 motorcycles, 62 live ammunition, two cartons of codine, bags of Indian hemp among others

The two fake naval who confessed to the crime, told our correspondent that they love to be a naval officers but luck was not on their side as they were over time screen out.

 “We love to join but each time we applied, we were screen out because nobody to help us” they confessed.
