2020 Children’s Day:NAWOJ describes children as future assets
The Nigeria Association of
Women Journalists NAWOJ,
Delta State Chapter, has described children as future assets of families, State and Nation as they mark the 2020 Children’s day celebration.
The Association gave the description in
a statement signed by the state
Chairman, Comrade Pat Gbemudu
and Secretary, Comrade Eunice
Emeyazia, at Asaba, today.
The statement called
on parents and caregivers
to pay more attention to the
development of children under
their care to build a healthier
society.
They attributed the increasing
societal decadence to the
negligence of parents and
caregivers, especially the neglect
of cultural, religious and moral
values, in the pursuit of material
gains.
The Chairman and Secretary however stressed
the need to prioritize their affairs and pay
more attention to their education,
bearing in mind that the future
prosperity of a Nation lies in
its ability to develop the hidden
potentials in her children.
They observed that children
across the globe are beginning
to demonstrate strength and
leadership skills, hence the need
to continually invest in, and
empower them to right the
wrongs in the society.
Children’s Day is celebrated
annually in Nigeria on May 27, to
recognize and honour children
across the nation.
