Ideal Child Foundation Distributes Sanitary Pads to Girls in Public Schools

The founder of Ideal Child Foundation, Ewele Ideal Esq. (1st right) and the Treasurer of the group, Comrade Pat Gbemudu (2nd right),distributing sanitary pads at West End Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, yesterday (4/3/2021).

As part of its humanitarian and philanthropic initiative towards encouraging the girl child in maintaining hygiene during menstruation, the Ideal Child Foundation, yesterday, distributed sanitary pads to female students in Delta State.

 

The Founder of the group , Awele Ideal Esq., in company of the treasurer , Comrade Pat Gbemudu shared the sanitary towels at West End Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, and Okpanam High School, Okpanam.

Speaking at Okpanam High School, Awele said that many indigent girls in public Schools, miss days in school due to their inability to care for themselves during their menstrual cycle.

She observed that a minimum of four Schools are selected monthly, for the scheme, adding that the organization is passionate about ameliorating the plight of less privileged girls that cannot afford feminine pads .

The founder also noted  that she is currently advocating for a bill to make Sanitary towels available and free in public Schools so as to enable them take care of themselves.

 

The Treasurer of Ideal Child Foundation  and  Chairperson of the Delta State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Comrade Pat Gbemudu, addressing  female students at Okpanam High School, Okpanam.

On her part, the treasurer, who is also the State chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), encouraged the students to continually strive towards cleanliness so as to avoid infections.

The Principal of Okpanam High School, Mrs Rachael Ogbogo, however thanked members of the foundation for embarking on the project while restating  the need for sanitary towels to be made accessible in Schools.
