Police Impound 80 Tricycles, 50 Motorbikes for flouting Government Directive

Delta State Police Command has impounded fifty (50) Motorbikes and eighty (80) Tricycles for contravening the State Government’s directives.

The motorcycles were impounded for contravening the existing order banning the movement motorcycles in some part
of the State while the Tricycles
(KEKE) were confiscated for violating the state government’s directive to stop working by 10:00 pm.

The State Command’s Acting Public Relations Office, DSP Edafe Bright made the disclosure in a Statement, today.

According to the Statement, the Police also
arrested an alleged syndicate that specializes in stealing motorcycles while a locally made single barrel gun, battle axe and substance suspected to be Indian hemp were also recovered in another operation.

Parts of the Statement reads: 1.On 17/7/2021 at about 2300hrs, In compliance with the directives issued
by the Commissioner of police CP Ari Muhammed Ali, FCIA, PSC+ on the
continues raiding of black spot/Criminal hideout and intensive patrol/stop
and search, the DPO GRA Division Asaba while on patrol with the Divisional
patrol team behind NTA Asaba, a tricycle rider with two occupants on
sighting them jumped down and escaped into the bush abandoning the
tricycle. The tricycle with reg. no ASB 144 WZ when searched, one (1)
locally made cut -to -size single barrel gun, one (1) battle axe one (1)
techno phone and twenty wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and
other hard drugs were recovered. Effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing
suspects.

“2. Similarly On 17/07/021 at about 1530hrs, The Divisional Police Officer
Oghara Division CSP Jimoh Hassan Detailed Patrol Team from the Division to
embark on Aberdeen system of patrol around Oghara and its environs to
checkmate the activities of criminals and to also prevent crimes in the
area. The team while at Koko juction intercepted one Boytie Samuel ‘m’
21yrs of Oghara Junction, the suspect who looked very suspicious was taken
to the station for interrogation, the suspect on interrogation confessed
himself and others at large to be motorcycles snatchers,he later led
police Operatives to Koko junction where two unregistered motorcycles, one
big Elema generator, Nissan Primera with reg No BEN 564 LT all suspected
stolen were recovered and another suspect, one Vero Amughoro ‘f’ 47yrs of
koko junction was also arrested. Manhunt for the other members of the gang
is ongoing.

“3.As part of the Command’s proactive and preventive measures to checkmate
the activities of criminals/cultist in the state, DPOS ‘A’ Division, ‘B’
Division and GRA Division all in Asaba carried out raids of black spots/
criminal hide outs which include uncompleted buildings, brothels were also
Raided, a total of sixty-four (64) suspects were arrested, screened and
those found wanting were charged to court. Fifty (50) motorcycles of
riders who contravened the existing order banning motorcycles in some part
of the state were also impounded and a total number of eighty Tricycles
(KEKE) who also contravene the state government directives to stop working
after 2200hours were also impounded.”
