Kiddies Carnival Nigeria Seeks Partnership With NUJ, Donates Waste Bins To Union

An initiative geared towards talent hunt and development in Delta State, anchored by the Kiddies Carnival Nigeria through the Office of the Girl Child, has visited the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, where the three winners of the various categories of their pageants donated waste bins to the union for the disposal of waste at the Press Centre.
The Project Director of the initiative, Valerie Opia a.k.a Valerie of Africa, introduced her girls and demanded that NUJ partners the group to redefine the place of a girl child in the society and the contributions expected of her towards adding value in the society.
The lead pageant, Ambassador Chisom Agu commended NUJ for the great job her members are doing in policing and checkmating the society for the betterment of all.
She appealed to the union to support her idea of preaching peace and unity during the forthcoming general elections, adding also, that it is of paramount importance that all stakeholders join hands together to fight cultism, gender based violence and immoral acts in the society.
She therefore informed the NUJ Chairman of her intention to hold a seminar at the Press Centre with Hon. Ned Nwoko as the chairman, where she would gather stakeholders to deliberate on the critical need of Girl Child Education in our society.
Responding, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu appreciated the team for deeming it feat to come to the NUJ to seek partnership, stating that the union which is the umbrella body of all practicing journalists, exists to serve the society and individuals, irrespective of status.
He congratulated the three winners of their various categories of contests, admonishing them to keep it up in order to get to the stardom of their career.
His words, “You must focus on your Education while you also passionately build on your potentials and talents. Don’t let the achievements of today get into your head. Work hard with consistency of hope in what you are doing, in no distant time, you will get to the apex of your career and dream, happily and peacefully.
“On your request for partnership, we are ready to partner with you. It is our duty to support the young ones in building a productive and responsible society. Just inform us on the date you wish to use the press centre for your seminar and be rest assured that we will make it available for you free of charge.
“We will also give you the publicity you need to make your event successful and worthwhile. On behalf of the journalists in Delta State, I want to wish you well in your chosen endeavours”, Ikeogwu said.
The highpoint of the visit was the official presentation of the waste bins and taking of group photograph with the Chairman of NUJ and some of the Exco members.
