PDP Stakeholders appeal for LGC  Chairman Position in Nsukwa Clan

For the purposes of having a level playing ground in the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), in Delta State, concerned leaders and members of the party, have demanded that the LGA Chairmanship position should be zoned to Nsukwa Clan in Aniocha south local government area of the State.

A statement by members of the party in Nsukwa Clan appealed to the immediate past and incumbent governors,Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to give the PDP Aniocha South LGA Chairmanship position to the peace loving people of Nsukwa clan for equity, fairness and Justice.

The renewed agitation followed the claim that Ubulu and Ogwashi clans have had their fair share of both elective and appointive positions in the LGA.

Demanding for the Chairmanship position of Aniocha south LGA in order to feel inclusiveness in the party, the stakeholders emphasized the overdue need for Nsukwa Clan’s representation at the LGA level, citing the absence of the Clan’s leadership in the PDP’s top echelons as not plausible.

Stating that Ubulu Clan has the Chairman of the Council and Ogwashi and the House of Assembly member , they noted that it was only fair, equitable and just for Nsukwa Clan to have the party’s LGA Chairman.

They reiterated that in Aniocha South Local government, Ogwashi-Uku Clan has four elective positions, namely, Assistant Organizing Secretary at the National party level, Assistant Treasurer of the Party Position,at the State level, Chairman LGA party position and House of Assembly position.

They queried how would such be reconciled while a particular clan with 3 ward is having 4 elective positions in one local government, another (Nsukwa) is having none.

They pleaded with the State Governor to use his good office to address the great injustice to them.

Insisting further, they said the party chairman be zoned to Nsukwa Clan, noting that the demand was fair, equitable and would balance the tripartite relationship.

They revealed that Ogwashi clan has held to the chairmanship position five consecutive times, knowing fully well that it is a one tenured arrangement.

In an exclusive document The Story, is privy to, the leaders and members posited that for them to vote, the 36 man leadership list which does not reflect the true leadership structure of, particularly, Nsukwa Clan should be discarded, insisting that the list can’t be used.

They alleged that the list was single handedly drawn by one Prince Mike Chukwulueze, as supervised by his masters for their interest, saying if used, would bring complete disunity in the Clan and the local government at large.

They said to be fair and respectful to all, another list of five persons per ward be drawn most importantly, the leaders of each ward to draw up the list and forward same to Chief Chris Agbabu.

They warned that anything different from their demand, would dampen their morals and possibly weaken them even more, revealing that some gladiators have boasted that they won’t taste the office, saying such move would not unify the local government.
