Makinde Declares 2027 Presidential Ambition After APM Alliance
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the general elections.
Makinde made the declaration during a political rally held at Mapo Hall in Ibadan, where factions of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State unveiled a strategic alliance with the APM.
“I, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, announce my candidacy for the position of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the governor declared before supporters at the rally.
Earlier, Makinde led the Taminu Turaki faction of the PDP in signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the APM as part of efforts to strengthen political collaboration ahead of the 2027 polls.
The agreement was jointly signed by Makinde and the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle.
Under the arrangement, candidates loyal to the PDP faction seeking elective positions, including governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly seats, are expected to contest the 2027 elections on the APM platform instead of the PDP.
