Tompolo Moves to Avert Escalation in Warri Delineation Row

Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited and Ijaw leader, Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, has appealed for calm following the ongoing protests by women and youths occupying oil and gas facilities in the Escravos and Warri River areas of Delta State over the ward delineation dispute in Warri Federal Constituency.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Tompolo acknowledged the concerns that have triggered the mass action, which began on June 8, 2026, and has reportedly disrupted operations at several oil and gas installations in the area.

The Ijaw leader said many patriotic Nigerians had continued to call for a peaceful resolution of the impasse and stressed that the Ijaw nation has always been known for its peaceful disposition.

According to him, the current political tension arose from what he described as the failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to complete the delineation of wards in the Warri Federal Constituency.

He warned that the protests and related actions must not be allowed to be hijacked by individuals seeking to foment violence or destabilize the region.

“I am calling for calm no matter the situation,” Tompolo stated, adding that all stakeholders must work together to prevent the crisis from escalating.

He also called for an urgent meeting of community leaders to deliberate on the situation and chart a peaceful way forward.

Tompolo urged residents of Warri and surrounding communities, irrespective of ethnic affiliation, to remain peaceful and exercise patience while awaiting action from the electoral commission.

“We call on the people of Warri, whether Ijaw, Itsekiri or Urhobo, to be calm and wait patiently for INEC to do the right thing,” he said.

The Chairman of Tantita further appealed to INEC to take necessary steps to address the contentious ward delineation issue, insisting that the commission must act in a manner that would restore peace and stability in Warri and its environs.
