Delta Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Nab Three Suspected Cultists in Asaba
Delta State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in its ongoing fight against crime, rescuing a kidnap victim and arresting three suspected cultists in separate operations across the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the developments in a statement, describing the operations as part of sustained efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
According to him, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad successfully rescued a victim who was abducted by armed men in Okpanam on June 10.
Edafe said the police immediately launched an intelligence-driven operation after receiving information about the incident, deploying tactical teams to track down the kidnappers and secure the victim’s release.
He explained that relentless pressure mounted by security operatives forced the abductors to abandon the victim and flee their hideout.
“The victim was rescued unhurt, debriefed, and reunited with his family, while efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects,” he said.
In another operation, officers attached to the Distress 01 Patrol Team arrested three suspected cultists during a routine patrol in Asaba.
The suspects, identified as Ewendeze De-Grace, 19, Eruweghene Amede, 20, and Chukwuemeka Arinze, 21, were intercepted while travelling in a tricycle.
A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of a locally fabricated Beretta pistol.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the trio are suspected members of the Aro Bagger Confraternity, while further investigations are ongoing.
Commending the officers for their professionalism and commitment, Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the Command’s determination to combat all forms of criminality.
He also urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information to enhance security and ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
