Issele-Uku Family Announces Burial of Matriarch, Late Mama Obiajulu Nwajei, for Dec. 28

The family of Diokpa Nwajei of Ogbeidibo Quarters, Issele-Uku, in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, has announced the burial arrangements for its matriarch, late Mama Obiajulu Nwajei.

According to the obituary programme, a service of songs will be held on December 27, 2026, at the Issele Baptist Church, Ogbe-Ofu, Issele-Uku.

The funeral service and lying-in-state will take place at the family compound in Ogbeidibo Quarters, Issele-Uku, on December 28, while the reception will follow immediately at the Catholic Cathedral event ground.

The family also announced that the outing service and family thanksgiving will be held on January 3, 2027.

Mama Obiajulu Nwajei was 90 years old before her death. She will be remembered as a virtuous community woman, devout Christian, loving mother and caring figure to many who encountered her during her lifetime.

There are many fond memories of Mama, particularly among those who grew up alongside her children and those who came to know the family over the years. She was widely regarded as a selfless giver who fed other people’s children and generously supported women in need with whatever resources she had.

Late Mrs. Nwajei was known for her non-discriminatory nature, treating every individual she encountered first and foremost as a fellow human being. A notable example was the way she accommodated Hausa people who lived with her, caring for them and their children as members of the community rather than as strangers.

She exemplified the traditional ideals represented by the titles Ezinne and Nne Diogor, and her name was often mentioned whenever acts of kindness, generosity and good character were celebrated in the community.

Through the burial announcement, the family has invited all well-meaning individuals in Issele-Uku and beyond, including those returning from abroad for the yuletide season, to join them in celebrating the life and legacy of a virtuous and dignified mother.
