Residents of Port Harcourt could see taps flowing again after the Port Harcourt WASH Media Network threw its weight behind the Port Harcourt Water Corporation (PHWC) and demanded swift government approval to restart public water supply.
In a communiqué released after its inauguration, the Network praised PHWC led by Sir Walter Ibibia for its renewed push to restore potable water and its ongoing renovation and construction of modern infrastructure across Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas.
The group urged the Rivers State Government to give the necessary approvals without delay so operations can begin immediately to enable residents have access to portable water.
According to the Communique, Residents of Port Harcourt City were encouraged to contact PHWC for public water supply connection arrangements, and prepare to join the public water system once services start.

The Network also called on consumers to use water responsibly and protect public facilities from damage.
Its five-man interim Executive Committee headed by Mr. Samuel Olusegun pledged to work with PHWC on public sensitisation campaigns to safeguard infrastructure already put in place to serve the public.
