Owing to the increased rate of kidnapping and other crimes, His Royal Highness, Obi Christopher Okafor Ogoh, I,the Obi of Nnku Uzu in Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State has appealed for the reopening of an abandoned police Station in the community.

In an interview with The Truth , at Nnku-Uzu, recently, the Monarch lamented that the high level of crime is preventing commuters and motorists from maximizing the full benefit of the road constructed by the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led administration.

Obi Ogoh however explained that the Police Station was abandoned due to the previous inaccessible condition of road which has been constructed but now bedeviled with various crimes.

The monarch noted that the Station established in 1991 was commissioned by the first Delta Commissioner of Police, adding that it was the second in the local government area with 12 Police Men.

According to him “ this area is now regraded as kidnapping zone. The police Station at Nnku-Uzu was the second police Station in Aniocha Local Government Area with twelve policemen”

“ the station was approved just before the creation of Delta State in 1991.After the State was created, CP Balogun came in as the first commissioner of Police in the State to commission the Station that same year.

Continuing, “ As at then, there was one police Station at Isele- Uku with this one as the second. But it was closed down because there was no link with other communities.

“ Although, other Stations has been established in Olona, Onicha- Ugbo,idumuje- Ugboko, Obior, the one here in Nnku-Uzu has remained shut and this has contributed to the high rate of crime in the town and around this area.

“ The Station at Isele-Uku is too far from Nnku-Uzu, Obomkpa, Obomkpa and Ogodo.

“ His Excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has helped us immensely and I am appealing to him again to help us reopen the police Station in Nnku-Uzu in order to reduce the rate of crime in the community and its environs.

Meanwhile, the Royal father commended Governor Okowa for the construction of the Nnku-Uzu road, adding that his concern for the people’s lives led to the speedy completion of the road.

While thanking God for the successful election and inauguration of the governor, Obi Ogoh appealed for the completion of road linking Onicha-Uku to Nnku-Uzu, Obomkpa, Issele-Uku, Idumu-Ugo and Issele-Uku.

He said “ Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is not the first governor but he will remain remarkable because of the work he has done for Nnku-Uzu and many other places and how he is willing to help the people whenever the need arises and I can never criticize him for any reason.

“Previously, to drive down was impossible but Immediately the governor came in, he took up the issue of the road and work began as soon as approval was made by State Executive Council. Now, our women travel easily on market days.

“We thank God and the governor that he has returned in for his second office so that he can complete the road at Onicha- Uku to Nnku-Uzu, from Nnku-Uzu to Idumu-Ugo to Issele-Uku.
