Matriculating students of Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN), have been urged to be of good conduct, commitment and drive in their actions so as to be worthy ambassadors of not only their families, but also the institution.

The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS)
Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, stated this at the 3rd matriculation ceremony of the institution at the main auditorium, along Ibusa-Ogwashi-Uku road, Delta State, recently.

Represented by the Group Managing Director, Navy Holdings Limited, Admiral Morris Anso Eno, the Chief of Naval staff assured the parents, guardians and sponsors of the 122 matriculants, to keep faith with ADUN, as it delivers on it’s mandate, noting that their love for good education and a more secured future for their wards would not be in vain.

He added that ADUN promises to promote a functional and comprehensive system to bring about high quality manpower that can drive wealth creation in the abundance of natural endowments/ resources, while the ADUN graduate would be self reliant, creative, as well as willing and able to contribute to sustainable development of Nigeria.

Vice Admiral Gambo lauded the leadership, management and staff of ADUN, for keeping the vision of the institution aloft and alive, even in the face of the prevailing uncertainties of national life occasioned by the global COVID 19 pandemic.

In his welcome address, ADUN Vice Chancellor, Prof. Paul Omojo Omaji, who titled his speech “WE CAN SEE GREATNESS”, said among others, that the institution is infused with a philosophy of respect for hard work, alert to a quality assurance motto of Excellence in Education, and directed by nine core values encapsulated in the leadership mantra of doing the right thing, in the right way, at the right time , and for the right reasons.

Prof. Omaji said subsequent upon the forensic inspection of the institution’s infrastructural facilities, staffing profile, admission status and management systems in November 2020, full operational license duly signed by NUC Executive Secretary, Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, and the Education Minister, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has been granted to ADUN.

The VC traced the history of ADUN’s birth to December 2017 when the federal government granted a provisional license to the Nigerian Navy and it’s partner Hellenic Education Nigeria LTD, to operate a university called ADUN.

He commended the Nigerian Navy for their foresight in establishing the institution under a PPP arrangement with Hellenic, stating that it had already become not only an anchor to which the higher educational destinies of many students are tied, but also many Nigerians have found employment opportunities, consistent with one of the objects outlined in section 2 of the university law of 2017.

The ADUN VC while commending parents and guardians for their labour of love for their wards, appealed to them to continue to be committed to paying their wards relevant fees promptly, as that would complement the current efforts of the Navy to sustain the institution financially.

He also charged the 122 matriculants to adhere strictly to the letters of their matriculation oath so as to continue to be the Admirables that they are called.

Highpoint of the occasion was the matriculation oath administered on the students by Mr. Kingsley O. Aduga, the institution’s registrar.
