2023 Elections: INEC to Commence Display of Voters Register Nov. 12

The display of Nationwide voters register for the 2023 general elections will begin in Delta State from Saturday 12th November till Friday November 25th 2022.

A statement signed by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Monday Udoh Tom, made the disclosure, today.

According to the Statement, the exercise is aimed at affording the voters an opportunity to ensure that their details are correctly captured.

The exercise entails display of register of voters, Claims and objections at Registration Area, Ward levels as well as  Claims and objection at INEC’s Local Government Office.

The statement titled “ DISPLAY OF NATONAL REGISTER OF VOTERS FOR CLAIMS AND OBJECTION, 2022” reads: Pursuant to section 19, subsection 1 of the Electoral Act, 2022.

“The independent National Electoral Commission Delta state will commence the Nationwide display of register of voters in the State for the 2023 General Elections from Saturday 12th- Friday 25th November, 2022.

“The Electoral Act provides for the commission to display the copy of the voters register for public scrutiny not later than 90 days to the general elections.

“The display of the voters register is in compliance with Section 19 (2) of the Act, which mandates the Commission to carry out claims and objections for a period of 14 days.

“ The schedule for the display of register of voters for claims and objections are as follows:
(a) Display of register of voters from Saturday 12th- Friday 25 November, 2022.
(b)Claims and objections at Registration Area (RA), Ward levels from Saturday 12th to Friday 18th November, 2022.
(C)Claims and objection at LGA office from 19th Friday-25 November,2022.

“The commission therefore enjoins all stakeholders and electorates to take advantage of the display to visit any Registration Area (RA), and all INEC offices for claims and objections

“This will afford the electorates the opportunity to ensure that their details Such as names, Age, unit etc. are correctly captured

“The commission views citizen’s participation in this exercise as one of the Vital building blocks to a free, fair, credible and inclusive elections in 2023”
