Delta State Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye has assured Deltans on Government’s commitment to building of road infrastructure in rural communities of the State.
Chief Augoye gave the assurance when he hosted members of the Indigenous Correspondent’s Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), at Asaba, today (15/10/2020).
Reacting to an observation on the fear of abandonment of rural road projects in Delta North after the administration of Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Commissioner explained that whoever assumes power after the present Governor will ensure development in all parts of the State.
While noting the State Government’s dedication to improving local economy through construction of roads, he said that the current administration has a deliberate policy of developing rural areas.
He said, “ they are part of Delta State. Whoever becomes Governor tommorow will not forget them. Delta is one.
“ we are not discriminatory when it comes to distribution of infrastructure and so would surely benefit even in the nearest future”.
Continuing,“ this administration has a deliberate policy of opening rural areas. If you take your time to go round Delta State, you will discover that so many of them have been opened up to ensure investors go into those areas and also boost the local economy.
“ Even in the riverine communities, we have deliberately ensured that riverine communities also benefit from road infrastructure”.
“ Governance is in continuum. The ones that are not captured in this administration will be captured in subsequent administration. It is not a deliberate effort to abandon those communities. We are preparing 2021 budget, we will still have the opportunity of 2022 Budget. Some of these roads will be captured” he added.
Earlier, the chairman of the chapel, Comrade Andy Emephia said the visit was aimed at seeking approval for ICC members’ involvement in the Ministry’s activities accross the State.
